Story
Frank Voci has spent his career building successful, breakthrough products and businesses as both a media executive and a consultant. He brings more than 20 years of experience in multi-platform product strategy & development, information architecture, user experience, programming, marketing, brand launches, and digital distribution to his clients.
Frank has spearheaded the creation of some of the most influential media brands to launch online in the last two decades including CNET, IFILM, and E! Online. Frank began his media career in print in 1991 as Senior Editor of Disney Adventures, then the nation’s largest-circulation magazine for kids. While there Voci conceptualized and launched the Walt Disney Company’s first-ever online presence.
In 1993, Frank became a member of the team that launched CNET, the world leader in technology news, reviews, and downloads. During his tenure at CNET, Frank was instrumental in every facet of the company’s explosive growth including the development of each of CNET’s charter Internet properties and its television programming. Among them were CNET.com, News.com, Download.com, and joint ventures with Intel, E!, and NBC. As Vice President & Executive Producer, Frank was responsible for product development, network engagement, and user experience across the company. Frank also helped develop and produced CNET’s first television show CNET Central.
When Frank left CNET in 1999 he began his own consulting practice helping launch new media businesses like IWIN.com–a highly successful games site–and most notably IFILM–the first site to do large scale streaming of user generated video.
Frank was soon recruited to be a partner in 12 Entrepreneuring, an experimental VC/incubator hybrid. Halsey Minor, founder of CNET and Eric Greenberg, founder of Scient and Viant, assembled a widely multi-disciplinary group at 12 to conceive and build businesses using innovative, disruptive technologies.
In 2001 Frank returned to media as President of IFILM. There he oversaw the company’s consumer business and his purview included programming, marketing, product development, technology and sales. Voci also developed and produced IFILM’s theatrical and television ventures, expanding the brand through partnerships with AMC Theatres and IFC.
In 2003 Frank formed Voci Media Works to bring his accumulated expertise to a whole new set of forward-thinking companies. Today, VMW develops product strategy and architects experiences for companies across a variety of sectors and stages. Voci’s clients have included ShopSavvy, Tom’s Hardware, The QYOU, Westfield, Living proof., JibJab, ShoeMint, Fox Sports, eHarmony, Citysearch, ABC News, EXOS, Game Show Network, Frequency, TV.com, Polaris Ventures, and more.
Frank Voci created the White Knot non-profit awareness campaign, served as Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of APLA Health, and holds a degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.
